Get “WED” to your Dreams

Getting married is one of many goals I want to experience in my lifetime. I am blessed to meet the woman of my dreams and I plan on walking down the aisle with her in the future. I have taken photos of a few weddings in the past, and I find them to be quite beautiful. I enjoy the union of two souls becoming one in the presence of friends and family.

One thing that came to my mind was that entrepreneurs should treat their businesses like a marriage. After all, a business is a union in itself. Successful business owners are united to their dreams. They are wed to their dreams. In this post, I will discuss what it means to get wed to your dreams; along with more tips on this subject.

What do you mean get “wed”?

The term wed simply means to join or unite something. So many of us have dreams but truthfully are we wed to them? Are we joined of tied to those dreams? Our dreams are based in the future, yet many people hold on to past negativity. How can you fall in love with your future, if you are having an affair with the past?

Why?

The vast majority of people are not crystal clear with their dreams. I am a proponent of writing down dreams on paper. The act of writing and reviewing your dreams or goals reinforces their importance in your life. Goals without a plan will only become wish. They key to executing a plan is by creating action.

You must be clear what it is that you want in both your life and your business. Make sure to dream big. You started your home-based business for a reason. Think about what do you want this company to be able to deliver for you. Whatever it is, it can be attainable.

Create a vision book or board and fill it with images that trigger your dreams. This book or board will be something you look at and refer to on a daily basis. I fill my book with affirmations as will as pictures of what I want various things to look like in my life. This book shall inspire you and motivate you to action. Some of the key areas in my vision book deal with education, retirement, and loved ones.

I joined network marketing because I grew tired of the American job market. I think our education system suffers because we are not preparing our children for the real world. We are not preparing our youth to be survivors. Many of the so-called jobs of today may be replaced with machines in some form. Yet, we as Americans, are not prepared for the changes ahead. I want to win for my family. I also want to be able to be able to live a lifestyle on my terms. Those are just some of the reasons that I want to win in network marketing. You can find those statements in my vision book.

Steer clear of drama

If we all begin to evaluate our lives, one thing is certain, there is mess in everyone’s life. When our goals are in front of us; we are committed to winning. Being wed to your goals is simple when you write down your goals.

A dream not detailed can easily be a dream deferred. Life sometimes gets in the way. But no matter what life throws your way, you should get some paper and start clearly writing out your goals. Either you chase your dream or you will chase someone else’s dream that is bigger than yours.

Expose Your Dream

It is not enough to simply write your dreams on paper though. We have to say yes to the goals and tell the world about them. Either you are going to participate in your dreams of someone else’s. Somebody is dreaming, why not participate in your own dream?

I make every effort possible to be accountable to chasing my dreams. One way I become accountable is by sharing my goals with other people. I recently read a study from Psychology professor Dr. Gail Matthews from Dominican University in California that stated the following:

the results showed that people who wrote down their goals, shared this information with a friend, and sent them weekly updates were on average 33% more successful in accomplishing their stated goals than those who merely formulated them.”

So in other words, one-third more people were successful by just writing and sharing their goals.

It’s clearly not enough to make a declaration about what you are going to do. You have to put in the work, face the possibly of making a few sacrifices and develop a plan. Yes, we can make vision boards, create daily journals or recite positive affirmations but accountability can help you go the extra mile to turn an aspiration into an accomplishment.

Whether it is a friend with similar goals, a personal trainer or coach; accountability partners serve as confidants, motivators or may serve as a means to keep you in check. By arming yourself with the right people in your corner, it can help increase your level of commitment, motivation and help see you through the tough times.

It is amazing how things can come together when you just align your dreams. You must have a vision that is bigger than you can imagine. We are all on one accord. As we begin to share our dreams, others will realize they have dreams. We have a platform in network marketing to help others share their dreams.

Don’t Give Up on Your Dream

Last month, sports reporter Stephen A. Smith was highly critical of former football star Tim Tebow’s decision to tryout for a professional baseball team instead of attempting to make another run at the National Football League. Tebow hasn’t played baseball since high school, which has been over a decade. He’s already had an unbelievable college career, and his NFL career was rather tumultuous to say the least. For the last few years, Tebow has worked as a television personality on various mediums including sports and entertainment. However, Tebow express interest in trying his hand at baseball. He ended up signing with the New York Mets fall league, where he is living out one of his dreams.

Smith  called Tebow’s pursuit of a baseball career a “disservice and a level of disrespect” to other baseball players. Tebow responded that he had two loves in life and he took advantage of the opportunity to live out his other dream when it was presented to him.

After all, when are dreams based on chances?” – Tim Tebow

Dreams are based on heart and passion. You should never give up on your dreams. We always regret what we did not pursue. We have a vehicle that can change the fortunes of our family trees forever. I just do not understand how anyone can give up on their dreams. We all have the ability to succeed. Everything can be changed in a simple daily decision, which is action. We have to determine that we will not quit on ourselves or those who are looking up to us. Unlike being on a job, where people spend decades hoping and wishing for something positive to happen; we have the ability to reach our promised land.

It all starts with getting wed to your dreams.
